COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PGRI YOGYAKARTA UNIVERSITY KUI TO AHMAD DAHLAN UNIVERSITY KUI

On Wednesday, November 29 2023, the International Affairs Office (KUI) of Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta (UPY) carried out a visit to the International Affairs Office of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) in the context of a comparative study. The delegation from KUI UPY who attended consisted of Dr. Victor Novianto, S.Pd., M.Hum (Head of KUI), Pebri Prihatmoko, S.Pd. M.Eng (KUI Secretary), and Nugraeni Putrie Windarti (KUI Admin). Meanwhile, from the UAD KUI, Ulaya Ahdiani, S.S., M.Hum. (Head of KUI), Ida Puspita, M.A.Res. (Head of Foreign Cooperation), Zalik Nuryana S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I. (Head of Domestic Cooperation), as well as other staff.

Top of Form During the visit, the International Affairs Office (KUI) of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) explained a number of achievements that had been achieved by UAD during the 2019-2023 period. In that five year period, UAD succeeded in attracting the attention of and collaborating with as many as 169 foreign students. This collaboration involves countries such as Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Egypt, Yemen, Sudan and the Philippines. Not only that, KUI UAD also succeeded in winning several international grants, including Eramus + Capacity Building in Higher Education Fund, Management of International DAAD German (2019), Eramus + International Credit Mobility for Student Staff Lecturer (2022-2023), and British Council.

Apart from receiving support from international grants, KUI UAD is also active in implementing various International Outbound Programs, including IISMA, ICT, CTS, PERMATA SAKTI, JOINT DEGREE, SHORT PROGRAM, SEA TEACHER, SEA TVET, INTERNATIONAL KKN, JOINT THESIS WRITING, and TEACHING ALUMNI IN THAILAND. On the other hand, there is also an Inbound Program which involves 2+2 Joint Degree, 3+1 Joint Degree, AIMS, Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA), and Darmasiswa. In the second session, the focus of the discussion was on program funding models to improve the quality of study programs (prodi). UAD implements a Negotiated Costing system, where the budget for each study program is determined based on quality targets which refer to the results of quality audits. The positive impact of implementing the Negotiated Costing system can be seen from the many UAD programs that have been successfully implemented through foreign collaboration. Over the past five years, 169 UAD students have participated in the Inbound program, while 138 students have participated in the Outbound program.

The session also discussed various tips related to relations with the Consular Office of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in order to help Indonesian students who are studying abroad. KUI UAD provided information that the Indonesian Consulate General usually provides support in the form of supplies of basic necessities/food. Apart from that, UAD provides tips for success in the IISMA program, including preparation for one year before implementing IISMA.

Then the final session was marked by the submission of documents extending the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PGRI Yogyakarta University (UPY) and Ahmad Dahlan University. UPY is represented by Dr. Victor Novianto, M.Hum., while UAD was represented by Ida Puspita, M.A.Res. The event closed with a joint photo session between officials from KUI UPY and KUI UAD, commemorating the moment of signing the agreement.
