UPY joined the Global Class program to open up opportunities for students to increase their knowledge and experience of the academic community through international lectures. On this occasion, UPY collaborated with ASEAN-China Private Higher Education Development and Cooperation (ACAPHEI) to form a Global Class program with the lecture material “Language Development”. ACAPHEI is an organization formed by SEAMEO RIHED which aims to promote the development of education in higher education for its members.
This program is a collaborative program involving 4 (four) universities from 3 (three) different countries, namely PGRI Yogyakarta University from Indonesia, Duy Tan University from Vietnam, as well as Zhejiang Yuexiu University and University of Sanya from China. The framework for implementing this program, each university is given 4 (four) opportunities to teach and interact with students from partner universities. Each university sent between 5 and 10 students to take part in this program, so there were 29 participants who joined this international class.
UPY sent 5 (five) students to take part in this program. UPY students who participated in the Global Class “Language Development” were Desylva Rima Kumalasari (English Language Education Study Program), Umi Safangati Hidayatun and Pandu Firmansyah (Management Study Program), Nugraeni Putrie Windarti (Accounting Study Program), and Ari Fitri Utami (Master of Basic Education) . This activity is carried out in full for one semester using the online lecture model on the Microsoft Teams platform. The lecturers who gave lectures in this program were Guruh Ghifar Zalzalah, S.E., M.Sc, from the UPY management study program, Ms. Phan Thi Nhu Uyen from Duy Tan University, Vietnam and 2 lecturers from Zhejiang Yuexiu University and the University of Sanya. Even though classes are held online, students still actively participate in online learning. All learning material in the “Language Development” class is presented in English so that all students can understand it well.
This program will run from October 2023 to February 2024. The 2023 ACAPHEI Student Mobility Program is expected to significantly contribute to increasing students’ global perspectives with universities abroad in the form of student exchanges and international classes. This program is expected to provide long-term benefits for participating students, especially at UPY, helping them become individuals who are more open, think globally, are skilled at communicating internationally, and are ready to face global challenges in the future.
